VoteShip ("we," "us," or "our") operates the feature request management platform available at voteship.app. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have regarding your data.
By using VoteShip, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create a VoteShip account, we collect:
- Your name and email address (provided directly or via Google OAuth)
- Profile picture (if provided through Google OAuth)
- Authentication credentials — passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
User-Generated Content
When you use VoteShip, we collect and store:
- Feature requests, comments, and votes you submit
- Files and images you upload (stored via Cloudflare R2)
- Board configurations and project settings
Public Voter Information
When end users vote or submit feedback on public boards, we may collect:
- Email address (if the board owner requires it)
- An anonymous voter identifier stored in the browser's local storage
Payment Information
Payments are processed entirely by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full credit card number, CVC, or billing address. We receive from Stripe only a customer identifier, subscription status, plan details, and the last four digits of your card for display purposes.
Usage and Analytics Data
We collect basic usage data to understand how the product is used and to improve it. This includes page views, feature usage patterns, and general interaction data. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the VoteShip platform
- Authenticate your identity and manage your account
- Process payments and manage subscriptions through Stripe
- Send transactional emails such as account verification, password resets, and feature request notifications (via Resend)
- Power AI features — feature request content may be sent to the Anthropic Claude API for categorization, summarization, and insights, and to Voyage AI for generating text embeddings used in semantic search and duplicate detection
- Analyze usage patterns to improve the product and fix bugs
- Respond to support requests and communicate with you about the service
3. Third-Party Services
VoteShip relies on the following third-party service providers to operate. Each provider has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data:
- Stripe — Payment processing. Stripe receives your payment details directly. Stripe Privacy Policy
- Resend — Transactional email delivery. Your email address is shared with Resend to send notifications. Resend Privacy Policy
- Cloudflare R2 — File and image storage. Uploaded files are stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure. Cloudflare Privacy Policy
- Anthropic (Claude API) — AI-powered features. Feature request content may be sent to Claude for categorization and insights. Anthropic Privacy Policy
- Voyage AI — Text embeddings for semantic search and duplicate detection. Feature request text may be sent to Voyage AI to generate embeddings.
- Google — OAuth authentication. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google. Google Privacy Policy
- Vercel — Application hosting and deployment. Vercel Privacy Policy
- Neon — PostgreSQL database hosting. Your data is stored in Neon's managed database infrastructure. Neon Privacy Policy
4. Cookies
VoteShip uses cookies strictly for authentication and session management. When you log in, a session cookie is set to keep you authenticated across page visits. We do not use third-party tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies.

5. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (e.g., for tax or accounting purposes).
Feature requests, votes, and comments submitted to boards you do not own may be retained in anonymized form after account deletion to preserve the integrity of the board owner's data.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including:
- All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using TLS (HTTPS)
- Passwords are hashed using secure, modern algorithms
- Database access is restricted and credentials are stored securely
- Third-party services are selected for their strong security practices
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Deletion — Request that we delete your personal data
- Data Export — Request a machine-readable export of your data
- Objection — Object to certain processing of your data

8. Children's Privacy
VoteShip is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice on the service before the changes take effect. Your continued use of VoteShip after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
